Swanage Railway Station & War Memorial

Swanage Town Council is proud to announce a special public event to mark 80 years since VE Day, and to celebrate our continued support for the Armed Forces through the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant.
The signing ceremony will take place at Swanage Railway Station, with representatives from the Town Council and Swanage Railway, in coordination with the Wessex Reserve Forces and Cadet Association.
Following the ceremony, attendees will move to Swanage Bandstand to enjoy music by local singer Karen Grant, culminating in a national two-minutes silence at 12 noon.
The commemorations will then continue at the Swanage War Memorial, where we will mark the 40th anniversary of community partnership with The Royal Corps of Signals. The event will feature:

Unveiling of commemorative benches and symbolic tree planting
This is a unique and meaningful opportunity to show our town’s enduring support for the Armed Forces—past, present and future.
Members of the public are warmly encouraged to attend. The event begins at 10:45am on the eastern platform of Swanage Railway Station.
