How to get to Swanage while the Sandbanks Ferry is not operational

The Sandbanks Ferry is currently suspended due to a mechanical fault and will not be operational until sometime in October 2019.

Further information, and latest updates, can be found on the ferry’s website or Facebook page:

Therefore, it is likely that the A351, that runs from near Poole to Swanage, will be busier during this period. To ease congestion an advisory diversion has been put in place. Just follow the black and yellow signs from the junction with the B3351 from Corfe Castle.

Swanage is very much open for business and we look forward to seeing you.

Travel by car

If you choose to travel by car please ensure that you leave yourself extra time and have plenty of water in your car. It is also worth checking the 'live' travel updates produced by Dorset Council before you leave.

You may also wish to consider parking at Norden Parking just outside Corfe Castle and catch the train into Swanage. This will save you the last five miles of your journey, and you’ll get to enjoy a wonderful, scenic ride on the Swanage Railway.
