Dorset Coast Forum, Swanage Town Council, and Dorset Council are inviting residents, visitors, and local businesses to share their thoughts on fresh proposals for the Swanage Green Seafront!
Building on your feedback from 2023, this new round of consultation introduces:
A new design option for the Green Seafront Four potential highway options for Shore Road from Dorset Council
For the first time, the Swanage community can have a say on TWO major seafront projects — help shape the future of this beautiful coastal space!
Essential stabilisation works are needed due to ongoing ground movement. You’re invited to compare the new proposal with the essential option shared in 2023.

Tina Foster, Town Mayor commented: “Since the results of the last public consultation, we have been working to further develop proposals based upon the feedback you gave us. The officers and councillors have discussed the results and used these to shape this round of public engagement.
One key aspect of the feedback concerned pedestrian safely and access on Shore Road. We are pleased to have been able to work closely with Dorset Council to develop the options. This has provided additional expertise and resources to achieve the best for Swanage.
The seafront is really important so please take the time to engage with us. The Town Council wants to hear from you.

The Hub and Spoke Day Opportunities model consultation, which will run until Monday 9th June, looks at changing the way that Dorset delivers day services by providing a network of core hubs in each area of the county that will support activities within local communities, reducing the need for people to travel, sometimes considerable distances, to reach daily activities and support that will instead now be provided within villages and towns.
The spokes represent the vast range of different organisations, including charities, churches, projects and activities, that already take place across the county by our providers and micro-providers, including walking groups, swimming, volunteering, gardening, performing arts, lunch clubs, and 'knit and natter' groups. They will be supported by the work of the hubs in connecting people and providing support and advice to strengthen their offer.
