Day's Park and Journey's End

This area of land was given to the town in 1936 by James Day. There is a park area, accessed off Northbrook Road, which is a favourite place to walk dogs. In the park there is a small play area for young children.  The area has been planted with ornamental trees and a variety of shrubs. There are also a number of mature trees within the park that have been added to significantly in recent years by the Town Council.

In the centre of the park there is a garden that was created from an idea of the 'Swanage In Bloom' committee, particularly to provide easy access for disabled people.  The committee promised Swanage Town Council that it would be built at no cost to the town. The work commenced in Spring 1990 with all the work and materials donated by local contractors and suppliers. Volunteers from all areas of expertise carried out the work, and the planting was done mainly by members of Swanage Hoteliers Association with the help of other townspeople.  Swanage Town Council also gave a donation. In the garden there is a plaque which details who was involved with the project.

North Beach car park is located in this area, off De Moulham Road. This is a pay and display car park, click here for the tariffs. The Coastguard building is situated in this car park. It was opened in February 2009, providing this vital emergency service with modern facilities. Public conveniences are provided in this building. Information on the local Coastguard Rescue Team can be found on their website: www.swanagecoastguard.org.uk

Within the car park you can find the entrance to the town’s football ground for Swanage Town and Herston FC. The First Team play at the football ground, with other teams using Journey’s End football pitch, which is also situated within Day’s Park.
