TOWN COUNCIL PLAY AREAS NOW OPEN

03 July 2020

Following the Prime Minister’s statement on 23rd June, and the news that outdoor play areas could reopen, please be advised that Swanage Town Council's play areas opened up again with effect from Saturday 4th July.

Play areas should pose a low risk of infection as they have been closed for over 3 months. The main risk of infection is person-to-person contact and touch points in the play area while it is in use.

Families are therefore strongly advised to follow the guidelines below in order to minimise the risk to themselves and others:

  • If anyone in the household is displaying COVID-19 symptoms then do not visit.
  • People should ensure that they are social distancing. If this isn't possible because the park is busy, please wait at a safe distance or visit on another day.
  • Wash hands or use hand sanitiser before and after visiting the park, and don’t touch your face.
  • Don’t eat or drink within the play area.
  • All rubbish should be placed in the litter bins, or taken home to dispose of.

Posters reminding children and their families of these guidelines have been displayed in the Council’s three play parks at the Recreation Ground, Days Park and King George’s Field (copies are attached to this post for your information).

The Council has thoroughly cleaned these play areas prior to opening, but they will not be cleansed once open. Families can consider wiping or cleansing equipment themselves before use.

Families are asked to try to only have one parent, guardian or carer with each child to limit the possible spread of infection.

The Council would also respectfully encourage visitors to "Think Twice" - if the park is busy, come back later. Please consider limiting the length of your visit to the park so that more children are able to use the facilities.

The Town Council would like to thank you for your co-operation in complying with government guidelines on this matter.

Stay alert >> Control the virus >> Save lives

PLEASE USE PARKS RESPONSIBLY, MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING AND THINK TWICE - IF THE PARK IS BUSY, COME BACK LATER.

Stay safe.
