Since July 2020 the Town Council and Sustainable Swanage have been working together towards achieving designation of the area known locally as The Downs, as a Local Nature Reserve.
The Sustainable Swanage Group, working in partnership with the Town Council, members of the local community, and local experts, have since then undertaken consultation, gathered information on the site and carried out extensive habitat and wildlife surveys.
All of the information needed for the application for designation is nearing completion. However, we have one further question to ask… the name!
We are thinking of using the name ‘Peveril Point and The Downs Local Nature Reserve’, but if you have any comments or alternative suggestions then we would love to hear from you!
